Most of the times, these events can claim the lives of a lot of people and also damage a lot of properties. Even if there are instruments that can detect the possibility of certain tragedies, people should prepare themselves at all times.

National and local governments typically disseminate information on what people should do before, during, and after these calamities. One of them would be to prepare a 3 day survival kit. Individuals should make sure that the following things are present in their kits.

The individual should be buying a bag where he will be putting his necessities. He should see to it that he will be buying a durable bag. In this manner, all of his belongings will be remaining inside the container and will not be falling off from it. He might also have to be buying a water proof one for his things not to be getting wet in case of a heavy rain or flood.

Usually, an evacuation center will not be providing clean water. In this case, he should be bringing his own clean water for him to be quenching his thirst while staying in the said center. He should be bringing one gallon per one day for himself. He should also be storing non perishable food like noodles and canned goods. In the case of the latter, he should be bringing a can opener for him to be eating them.

The persons should bring their cellphones with them so that they can communicate with government authorities or other people regarding the situations. They also have to keep extra batteries and chargers so that they could still utilize their cellphones. Aside from that, they also need to have transistor radios so that they will know important announcements or events. They should also have flashlights to illuminate their ways during night time.

They should also have copies of their personal documents. These documents include their birth certificates, identification cards, marriage certificates, insurance policies, passports, and others. These will help the government agencies to identify these people and provide them with whatever help that they may need.

Even if a disaster is happening, he should still be observing cleanliness for him not to be getting sick, especially during a typhoon or flood. He should be carrying stuff for sanitation and personal hygiene, like alcohol, toothbrush, wet wipes, and others. He should also be carrying extra clothes for him to be changing into dry ones if he gets wet from the rain.

They should also put medical supplies in these bags. These supplies may include medicines for headaches, colds, and stomachaches, which are typically common when people stay in evacuation centers. They also need alcohol, band aids, and cotton, in case certain disasters cause them cuts, burns, or wounds.

He also needs a multi purpose tool for cutting or fixing something. He should have a map with him. He should be planning beforehand on where he will be meeting up with his family members in case they are separated.
